The NFL has awarded a total of 33 compensatory draft picks to 13 teams for the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft, to be held April 28-30 in Chicago. The picks are awarded to teams that lose more or better compensatory free agents than they acquire in the previous year, in accordance with league rules.

The league determines compensatory free agents using a formula developed by the NFL Management Council based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. In 2016, all of the compensatory picks fall between Rounds 3-6.
