During upcoming league meetings, clubs will discuss the following proposed rules changes. All proposals must be approved by 75% (24) of the owners to be adopted.

Here’s a look at the 2022 club and Competition Committee rules change proposals.

Competition Committee Rules Proposals

• By the Competition Committee, to amend Rule 6, Section 1, Article 3, to make permanent the free kick formation change implemented during the 2021 season that established a maximum number of players in the setup zone.

Club Playing Rules Proposals

• By Indianapolis and Philadelphia; to amend Rule 16, Section 1, to allow both teams an opportunity to possess the ball in overtime.
• By Tennessee; to amend Rule 16, Section 1, to allow both teams an opportunity to possess the ball in overtime unless the team with the first possession scores a touchdown and a successful two-point Try.
