The official playing rules of the NFL are now available in Spanish, marking the first time in league history that the rulebook has been translated to another language.

Under the direction of Alberto Riveron, NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating, the project was led by Frank Szczepanik, NFL Officiating Special Projects Coordinator and NFL announcer Alvaro Martin. Together they formed a committee of some of the best-known and most respected Spanish-language NFL announcers to develop the translated rulebook — Raul Allegre, Enrique Burak and Joaquin Castillo.

"The translation of the NFL rulebook to Spanish is part of the NFL's ongoing effort to engage and educate Spanish-speaking fans and media, as well as a step towards developing officiating talent in Mexico and across Latin America," Riveron said. "It was important to have Spanish-language NFL experts come together to collaborate on this project. We were excited to have such a talented team develop the first Spanish-language NFL rulebook."

Martin is in his third decade announcing NFL games in Spanish, having previously served as ESPN's Monday Night Football announcer for the ESPN Deportes Spanish-language U.S. broadcast, as well as for ESPN International's broadcast to viewers in Latin America. He helps the NFL's officiating department prepare content for Spanish-speaking fans around the world.

ESPN's Allegre is a nine-year NFL veteran and two-time Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants (1986 and 1990). Since 2002, he has served as an NFL analyst for ESPN's Spanish-language NFL broadcasts across the U.S. and Latin America.

Televisa's Burak has covered a number of sports and the Olympics for almost three decades and is currently a member of Televisa's NFL announcing team.

TV Azteca's Castillo stood out as a college quarterback, winning two championships for Mexico's Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and later coached UNAM. He worked as a team general manager in Mexico's pro football league and currently serves as TV Azteca's lead analyst.
