The NFL celebrates youth and high school football year-round.

Through camps, activities and flag and tackle leagues, the NFL emphasizes proper technique, teamwork and sportsmanship for players of all ages and skill levels. Youth leagues continue to provide valuable football experiences for everyone involved.

“Playing football helps kids develop their leadership, self-discipline and teamwork skills — all while having fun,” said Troy Vincent, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations. “We support initiatives across the country that provide young players and their families with an inspiring, fun environment.”

The NFL and its youth football partners — USA FootballNCAAAmerican Football Coaches Association and the National Football Foundation — provide resources for players, coaches, parents and more to help teams get the most out of their experience.

The NFL created the Legends Youth Committee to support the development of youth and high school football initiatives. As members of the NFL Legends Community, these former players share their experiences and insights to help grow the game. The committee includes Hall of Famers, Super Bowl champions, former Pro Bowlers and more:

NFL FLAG is the league's official youth flag football program.

The NFL spotlight shines brightly on youth football during the week-long celebration of football at the Pro Bowl with events including: 

  • The Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award – Celebrates the best high school coaches in the country. Each of the 32 clubs nominate a coach and all nominees attend the Pro Bowl. The winner is announced at the Pro Bowl and is recognized at NFL Honors on Feb. 2 at 9 p.m. ET and PT on CBS.
  • The NFL FLAG Championships – Brings together more than 700 of the top Flag players across four age divisions for a national tournament at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex at the Pro Bowl.
