In continuation of their commitment to developing the next generation of football athletes, the NFL and Nike announced today the Nike 11-On initiative, a scholastic-based, team-oriented, character-building program.
The NFL and Nike will bring 11-On to 16 NFL clubs in 2019, expanding to all 32 clubs by 2020. The 11-On initiative will support scholastic high school football team competition that focuses on building transferable life skills while also creating an alternative to individual all-star formats.
“Nike continues its commitment to develop the next generation of football athletes and is thrilled to announce Nike 11-On in conjunction with the NFL and NFL clubs,” said Scott Henson, Nike Director of Grassroots and Team. “This unique scholastic-based, team-oriented program will deliver best-in-class experiences for athletes that not only emphasize football skills but also team building and leadership development both on and off the field of play.”
The 11-On programming is a unique endeavor that focuses on team play over individual recognition and provides development for all 11 athletes on both sides of the ball.
"Working with our teams to build the 11-On platform has been significant in demonstrating the values of teamwork in high school competition while also highlighting the high school coach as a leader in transferable skill development within the football community,” said Roman Oben, NFL Vice President of Youth and High School Football.
The Los Angeles Rams hosted the first 11-On presented by Nike at El Camino College on March 30-31. During the two-day activation, the Rams engaged over 420 student-athletes and more than 30 high school coaches.
